Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Box Office Review: Expectations

Marvel has built a tremendous following in India over the years, and needless to say. That’s always a big buzz for studio movies. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is no exception. Especially after the insane success of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Of course, Spider-Man is a big brand but the studio has done enough work in establishing its characters well and making sure that each character has its own fan base. Also, there has always been some crazy speculation/theories about Marvel movies and Doctor Strange 2 also about Tom Cruise entering the universe as Iron Man.

Apart from the things mentioned above, the big screen experience is something like this. Which has made Doctor Strange 2 a really hot topic ever since the trailer came out.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Box Office Review: Impact

Living up to the hype, Doctor Strange has given a tough fight at the Indian box office. I watched the first show of the day (9:10 am) and it was housefull. This is the situation at most places, which is the essence of the film’s bumper opening.

Marvel did not disappoint the fans and this time around, they delivered a decent entertaining package with Doctor Strange 2. Since the opening has already been great and the morning shows have registered a massive 60-65% numbers. The film will end one day. Blockbuster note and the entire weekend will skyrocket. Thus, a stage is very well set for a stupendous box office run. On top of that, the film would benefit greatly from higher ticket prices.

However, when we compare it with Spider-Man: No Way Home. So the latest Benedict Cumberbatch starrer has its limits. First and foremost, the character of Spider-Man has a universal appeal and is popular with both class and mass audiences. The proof of this was seen when No Way Home earned huge amount from B and C centres. No doubt, Doctor Strange will score well in 2B centers, but it will not perform in C centers.

Also, from now on, there is at least one notable Bollywood coming out every week. This includes films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Dhaakad and others. Which caters primarily to the urban audience. Who also happens to be Doctor Strange’s target audience. So yeah, it won’t be an easy ride here alone.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Box Office Review: Final Verdict

As we have mentioned above. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has both positives and limitations. Clearly, the film is going to emerge as one of the highest grossing Hollywood films of all time in India and crossing the 150 crore mark will be an easy task. But in the end, it may be difficult to touch the 200 crore mark. Or even cross it, Spider-Man: No Way Home (212 cr) seems like an impossible task to overcome. Nevertheless, after KGF Chapter 2, this film will keep the ticket windows busy again and will wrap its lifetime in the 170-200 crores range.
