At Xiaomi’s new product launch conference on August 10, Xiaomi updated two product lines that have been released MIX4 and Xiaomi Tablet 5 at once.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro Price
Among them, the Mi Pad 5 is particularly attractive with its starting price of Rs. 22,904 and excellent audio-visual configuration. In our hands the Xiaomi Mi Tablet 5 Pro, with a starting price of just Rs. 28790, offers an excellent configuration of Snapdragon 870+2K 120Hz screen + 8 speakers.
So how’s the comeback experience for this Xiaomi tablet . Our Team has got the Wi-Fi top version of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro and a matching keyboard and stylus. Let’s experience it in this article.
Build Quality
The Build Quality is unexpectedly great
Although Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro is very affordable. But in terms of workmanship it is surprisingly good. The front is a flat 11-inch screen covered by Corning Gorilla Glass, and the side is a popular aluminum alloy right angle frame this year. The thickness of the whole machine is only 6.86mm and the weight is only 515g. It is a very slim and light tablet computer.

On the front is a 16:10 120Hz LCD screen. Whose resolution is 2560 * 1600. It supports 1 billion color display and P3 color gamut with a maximum brightness of 500nit. Hence, it supports Dolby Vision and HDR 10 display. Which is very useful for daily use. A good screen that is smooth and comfortable for watching videos. At the same time, the frame control is also good, due to which the front screen-to-body ratio is quite impressive.

The back is made of frosted plastic, which feels pretty close to glass. The design of the camera module in the top left corner is similar to that of the Mi 11 series. The Pro version has 13MP wide-angle + 5MP depth of field. Whereas the standard variant only has a 13MP wide-angle lens.

The side is an important selling point of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro: 8 speaker. There are two sound holes on the left and right sides of the frame and each hole houses a tweeter and a mid-woofer. The actual listening feeling is quite good. However there is still a difference with the flagship iPad Pro series. Yet it has clear advantages over the dual-speaker iPad Air. Rs. No one can beat it at a price of more than 22,915.

In addition, there is a power fingerprint two-in-one button on the frame of the Pro version, and the unlocking speed is very fast.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro is touted as the fastest charging tablet. It supports 67W charging speed and can be fully charged with 8600mAH battery in just 67 minutes. It has been received quite well. However, there is no charging kit in the package and it should adopt the same strategy as the Xiaomi mobile phones.
All Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 series support Inspiration Stylus and Smart Keyboard Cover. The Inspiration Stylus is attached and charged by magnetic attraction. It weighs only 12.9 grams, and feels good. The pen tip can be replaced. But little will be exposed, making obsessive-compulsive disorder uncomfortable. There are also two buttons on the pen barrel. Through which some shortcut functions can be realized.

The keyboard cover is made of plain leather, which feels good. Through the magnetic metal contact connection at the bottom, the keyboard keys resemble those of ordinary thin and light notebooks. Commonly used shortcut keys can also be used, and the learning cost is very low. Also the keystroke is made longer, and the feel is good. However, the magnetic force on the shaft is much stronger than on the back. Which makes it a bit inconvenient to take it apart.
If you don’t need a keyboard. So Xiaomi has also designed a magnetic protective shield without keyboard. Which is also made of plain leather and feels good. The screen can be unlocked by a switch, or the avatar phone holder can be folded back.

Performance
Excellent Performance Release
At the press conference, Mr. Lei focused on the Mi Pad 5 Pro equipped with Snapdragon 870 and its heat dissipation area of up to 22745 mm². Known as a “real game artifact”. So let’s take a look at the performance of Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro.
In Geekbench 5, which represents the CPU’s theoretical performance, the Mi Pad 5 Pro scored 688 points for single-core and 2963 for multi-core. This single-core is a bit low. But the multi-core is in line with the general performance of the Snapdragon 870.

In 3DMark Wild Life Stress with an emphasis on GPU performance, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro scored a maximum score of 4269 points and a minimum score of 4241 points. Stability is as high as 99.3%, which means there is almost no frequency reduction under long-term performance output. The Snapdragon 870 devices tested by the author have great performance, and there’s no heat in the hand from start to finish. It seems that the heat dissipation of the tablet is really good.
In terms of storage, flash memory runs in Androbench. As shown in Fig. It looks like it uses UFS3.1 storage, which is pretty slick.

Showcasing a wide display in AnTuTu V9, the Mi Pad 5 Pro scored 703,528 points, which performed well.
From the above theoretical data, the different running scores of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro will be slightly lower than that of the 870 mobile phone. But the difference is not clear. However, due to the tablet’s heat dissipation and battery life benefits, frame rate performance in games should be more stable. So let’s run some games to try it out.
The first is “Honor of Kings”. Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro is yet to support Honor of Kings’ highest special effects 90-frame mode. That’s why we set the highest special effects to play at 60 frames. The whole game is firmly locked in 60 frames, and nothing happened. No ups and downs. And there is no heat in the back at all.

“Peace Elite” doesn’t support 90 frame mode yet. After 30 minutes of HDR HD limit frame rate, the average frame rate is 59.8 frames. There is no fluctuation in the frame rate, and the playing experience is great.

In “Call of Duty Mobile Game”, you can open in high-definition 60-frame mode. The whole game experience is very smooth. There’s no lag, and the final 30-minute game average frame rate is a solid 60 frames.

As we all know, the pressure of this game is huge. If we drive to the highest special effect of 60 frames, most of the game scenes can reach 60 frames, and the fight will hover at 50-60 frames, and the final 30-minute game, with an average frame rate of 50 frames. The experience is still great.
Importantly, even when playing “The Original God”, the author did not experience excitement. It can be said that the heat dissipation of the Mi Pad 5 is really good. However, there are some concerns when playing “Original God”. That is, this game does not support custom buttons. For an 11-inch tablet, many of the buttons are out of reach with one hand. If you really want to play, it is recommended to connect. Bluetooth handle mapping to play.

Mi Pad 5 Pro is equipped with a large 8600mAh battery. With 67W fast charging technology, battery life is definitely nothing to worry about. In terms of charging, it takes 60 minutes to charge from 1% to 100%, which is quite impressive.
Display & Features
The most important thing about the tablet is the system and ecology
Certainly, the screen and performance of the Mi Pad 5 Pro are excellent. But when we buy a tablet, we often consider its big-screen customization, supporting ecology, and productivity performance. Xiaomi has not updated its tablet product line for a long time. So can MIUI for Pad now provide a good experience?

The first is some basic system control experience. MIUI for Pad supports full-screen gestures and large-screen gestures. We can use it as a mobile phone. Or we can use three fingers to slide up to return to the desktop, and swipe left and right to switch applications. The experience is very smooth. Also, since the 4 sides are almost equal in width. It can provide a similar experience no matter what angle is rotated.

The desktop of MIUI for Pad systems provides a dock bar for tablets. Which can provide better multitasking experience than mobile phones. Unfortunately, there is no desktop mode yet, and currently only tablet mode is available.
Application optimization is also very important. There is a Tablet Essentials column in the Xiaomi App Store. Currently, there are 38 HD applications that are compatible with tablets. Without active optimization, you can manually turn on landscape mode in the system, and the experience is good too. Only some applications that don’t support horizontal screen and don’t have HD version. They will be forced to walk into the screen vertically.
For non-HD applications, such as IT Home, you can use the “Parallel Window” function. Select Upper menu on the left and Next menu on the right. In between, you can adjust the ratio of 3 levels to make full use of the space of the larger screen.
MIUI’s well-reviewed mini window function has been retained on the tablet as well. You can enter it quickly through the multitasking interface or the notification bar. At this time, the size of the application is the size of the standard mobile phone, and the optimization problem no longer exists, and the window size can be adjusted freely. This function is really well received.
After connecting the keyboard, we can unlock some new ways to play. Firstly, the Xiaomi keyboard-style double-sided protective case houses a function key. Long press it to display a list of shortcut keys supported by the current application.
After connecting keyboard we can use WPS code word to do PPT etc. Which is very convenient for simple office work.
Inspiration stylus can accomplish the effects of note-taking and drawing. Measured delay performance is still possible, but the pressure sensitivity is not particularly sensitive, and the author cannot draw. Hence, the memo, concept drawing board and sketchbook software that Xiaomi has adapted. Could already satisfy me basic usage. Of course, I still hope that Xiaomi can collaborate with more tablet writing and drawing software as soon as possible.

Specifically emphasized in the press conference that the inspiration pen also added two additional buttons, With this button, we can take screenshots quickly. Can open notes and record inspiration, and can also be used as a controller when playing PPT, which is very convenient.

In general, during the period of my experience, the Mi Pad 5 Pro did not cause me much discomfort. This is good enough for most software required for daily entertainment. But in terms of productivity, it can only be said that there is a long way to go. I hope Xiaomi can develop the tablet ecosystem and offer more useful office drawing and note-taking software as soon as possible.
